Last year, we took an avid interest in Channel 4’s celebrity skiing show, The Jump, keeping you up to date with the latest news and gossip by live tweeting and blogging about the Sunday evening programme.

This year, the show has returned, with a whole host of new celebrities venturing out onto the slopes, mostly as beginners. A headline steal for the show saw Bradley Wiggins, 5-time Olympic Gold medallist, sign up to take part. However, after just Week 2, he was forced to quit after reportedly “breaking his leg”.

Other sports stars include former Liverpool and England striker, Robbie Fowler, as well as Paralympic Gold medallist Kadeena Cox. Jade Jones, Louis Smith and rugby players Gareth Thomas and James Robinson are also still in the running to take The Jump crown.

It was reported that the show’s stars have been told off by Channel 4 bosses for indulging a little too much in the apres-ski offering at the Austrian resorts of Innsbruck and Kuhtai, with Innsbruck hosted the Winter Olympics back in 1964 and 1976. The location(s) for filming the show are collectively referred to as ‘Jump Mountain’ rather than by their real name.

The show’s format sees a new challenge each week, with the two lowest-ranked performers facing off in a ski jump to determine which one celebrity will be departing ‘Jump Mountain’ for that week. The first episode saw the celebrities compete in a parallel ski race, with Josie Gibson and Mark Dolan the two who have so far been eliminated as a result of the ski jump.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the show’s developments, as the competition looks set to become much tougher, with each new week bringing a challenge harder than the last. Hopefully, we won’t see any more serious injuries, like those seen in previous series and at the start of 2017’s edition.
