Best Man? Head Bridesmaid? Or perhaps you’re the bride or groom and you’ve taken control of your ‘last night of freedom’ to make sure your best friend doesn’t let it get out of hand. Smart.

Whatever your role within the wonderful world of weddings, add one more ‘w’ - Winter. We’re guessing you probably never considered a skiing trip as the perfect place to have your stag or hen do. Well, it turns out it might just be the ideal send off for you (or your best friend) before the wedding. Much better than Magaluf, anyway.

The Parties

This is perhaps the bit that you had thought of? Yeah, we thought so. Understandably so - and a trip to the slopes will offer some of the best nights you could imagine. Whether you want to party all day at La Folie Douce(in Meribel, Val Thorens, Val D’Isere and Alpe D’Huez) in full view of some stunning French alps scenery with top-rated DJs making sure the place is bouncing until late in the evening or you prefer the nighttime experience, ski hard, play hard has got to be the motto. (Though you might all be needing a disco nap in the afternoon).

The Thrills

Whether your whole group are experienced skiers, complete novices or you’ve got a mixed bag on your hands, skiing will offer guaranteed thrills. For those first-time skiers, the excitement of quickly picking it up and being able to take on red runs after just a week is exhilarating. Hurtling down the slopes with the wind in your sails and stunning views surrounding you as you do it is a feeling like no other - and perfect when you’re in a big group. For those more advanced skiers in the group, we’re guessing you’ll want to get competitive. The thrill is in the chase, after all.

The Beer

It’s really good.

The Laughs

Of course, you’ll be incredibly supportive to any members of the group who’ve never skied before and are doing their utmost to learn the tricks of the trade. Ok, maybe you’ll laugh at them falling over a little bit. If you’re having a few beers with lunch, you might laugh at them quite a lot. And if they’ve had a few beers at lunch, they might laugh at themselves falling over to. Hey, it beats crying.

The Moments for Reflection

Perhaps the most important of all, skiing offers some wonderful chances to look back on old memories and toward what the future has to hold too. The stunning surroundings and breathtaking views and clear air give you the perfect chance to reflect and look forward, as you sit with your best mates on the mountainside, cherishing the great times you’ve all spent together, not just on this trip but all your lives together before toasting the happy couple.

Of course, after this trip, it’s highly unlikely that it’ll be the last time you all go away skiing together. So it’s not the end really, it’s just the beginning. Friendships are cemented for life on the slopes, returning you home a more solid group than ever before.

Let’s just hope the happy couple don’t get cold feet.
