When you're staying at the Hotel Neuhaus - St Josef it's easy to forget that you're actually in Mayrhofen, as you'll never need to venture too far.The Neuhaus is made up of several different buildings around a square, to form its own mini-village. The main hotel is made up of two wings - the original Neuhaus and the St Josef – which have both had many of their rooms recently renovated and are interconnected by an underground passageway. The 3-star Landhaus annexe is about 50 metres away and is a great way of experiencing many of the facilities at one of Mayrhofen’s best hotels on a budget.Meal times are well covered here. There’s a wide choice available at the breakfast buffet, including eggs freshly cooked to order. Evening meals are a chance for you to really refuel, with modern twists on Austrian classics and as well as more internationally recognised dishes. In the Neuhaus complex you have the Movie Bar (one of Mayrhofen’s best après bars), the Village Gym (with all the fitness equipment you’d expect in a modern fitness centre), the Kamillendörfl luxury spa, an indoor pool with even more saunas and great restaurants. If you’re travelling with kids too, there’s a play area, games room and Austrian bowling alley. All of this and it’s just a snowball’s throw away from both the train and bus station of Mayrhofen. The reason we mention the train and bus stations is because, if you want to make full use of your Zillertal area lift pass, you’ll need those for getting to some of the more far flung and quieter areas of the Ziller Valley - including the year round skiing Mecca of the Hintertux glacier. Closer to home, it’s about a 10-minute walk up to the Penken gondola and much less to the centre of town.
