Skogstad Hotell is a nice family-run hotel in Hemesedal that has all the ingredients required for a great ski holiday. Its location is very central in the village – a short bus ride from the main ski centre and lifts. But thanks to a new rolling blue run - that leads all the way back to the village – you can ski to within around 100m of the hotel.The first impression of the Skogstad will give a bit of a wow. Expect Alpine-style warmth, supported by comfy leather sofas, thick wooden furniture and a cosy fireplace. Many of the rooms have been given a makeover in the past few years – giving them a bright and fresh feel – while others retain their authentic fjellsjarmen (mountain charm).Dining is taken seriously here too – with a great focus on quality food for half board dining. There are also three à la carte restaurants. The Champagneria Restaurant specialises in great wines and tapas, whilst The Brewery serves more traditional bar food and produces its own craft beer and then there is Yama Sushi, a newly renovated sushi bar for those who prefer something different.The spa is a lovely addition and it looks superb. There’s a sauna, steam room and plunge bath and a small relaxing area. Plus you can pamper yourself with a range of massages and treatments or keep fit in the mini-gym section.
