Chalet Barbara isn’t strictly slopeside, but it’s pretty close. After fuelling up on a huge continental breakfast, you can slip on your skis a few steps from the chalet and slide down to Arabba’s main Burz lift, just a few minutes away. And on the way back down, just take the cut-off just after the Plan Boe, and you’ll come out right behind the hotel. This ultra-friendly hotel has traditional, chalet-style wood panelling throughout and one of the cosiest bars in Arabba – the perfect spot for sharing stories of the day beside the roaring fire. What’s more, there’s a lovely little wellness centre with sauna, steam room and solarium, for relaxing sore muscles before dinner, which is served at the Sporthotel Arabba, a 10-minute starlit walk away.
