There is a distinct lack of pressure as the resort never feels overcrowded or too intense and so you can relax and enjoy your time in the manner that best suits you.

Nightlife

A diverse array of people from around the world converge on Sestriere and so you will find that apres ski activities usually involve some international mingling and the local amenities are designed to cater to this cultural melting pot.

A rambunctious, festive feeling is created in the Black Pepper Bar, whilst those who prefer fruitier drinks should check out the cocktail menu at Spotties Bar. Meanwhile the Tabata Nightclub is available for all of your shimmying and shaking needs and there is a good selection of restaurants for all tastes and budgets, which we will discuss in more detail presently.

Some people prefer to spend their evenings watching teams from one of the best football leagues in the world compete and when the season permits it is possible to take evening trips to see Milan or Juventus play at their home stadiums.

Activities

Aside from the obvious, Sestriere offers other extra curricular activities both on and off the snowbound mountain slopes.

There is perhaps nothing that is more magical than a ride in a sled that is being pulled not by horses or by gravity but by a pack of Huskies and this is something that really evokes a sense of what it would really be like to visit the North Pole without suffering all of the associated inconveniences such as frostbite.

The Husky Dog trip will feel relatively sedate compared to the Olympic Bobsleigh experience, which is perhaps one of the most extreme ways to pass your time at Sestriere. You will come out feeling exhilarated at having experienced one of the most extreme sports there is.

If you want to take your skiing experience away from the vertical and towards the horizontal there is cross-country skiing offered locally and there is even the option to take a day away from the nearby slopes in order to experience Montgenevre and conclude the adventurous outing with a bit of a dance at a disco.

Not every activity at Sestriere involves staying out in the cold, as you can get some exercise and relax at the local Sports centre or the swimming pool. A range of sports are on offer, from Squash to Aerobics led by professional instructors and you can chill out after a strenuous day in the sauna before you feel the tension melt away with a massage.

Eating Out

Simple food can be found in the various bars that are dotted around the streets in Sestriere, but you can also get food on a budget from pizzerias, where the pizza is fresh and the pasta is flavoursome and inexpensive.

If you are looking to experience the local cuisine of the area then Osteria Barabba and Mama Lia are two restaurants which really keep their menus on a very traditional bent.

Meanwhile there is The Cavern restaurant which draws its culinary inspiration from a range of sources and has a broad selection of dishes. You can enjoy a three course meal out from as little as 16 Euros, which means that each person can eat their fill and not fear that they are going to rack up a huge bill before the end of the night.

Sestriere Ski Ratings

Sestriere’s slopes get five stars for intermediate skiers and four for beginners, which means that the first time visitors and moderately experienced individuals will be able to get their fill of varied terrain with very little need for repetition.

The availability of expert rated slopes has earned this resort three stars in the veteran’s category and snowboarders are also looking at a three star rating for their winter sport of choice, so even if you take a mixed ability group there will not be one particular class of skier that is left unfulfilled by their stay at Sestriere.
