Zell am Ziller is a beautiful little village situated in the spectacular Ziller Valley and has access to over 600 kilometres of well groomed piste. Being a resort of high altitude and only a short ski bus ride from the Hintertux glacier, snow is virtually guaranteed.

Zell am Ziller Guide

Zell am Ziller is a great ski area in itself with over 160 kilometres of piste itself, the lift system runs from the village centre and is particularly suited for beginners, intermediates and families travelling with children. This resort is also a very short distance from the more famous resort of Mayrhofen which opens up the choice of runs and can all be covered on the same lift pass.

Alternatively, other ski areas covered on a super lift pass include amazing areas such as The Wildkogl Arena which suits advanced skiers and snow boarders in articular.

Beginners are so well catered for in Zell am Ziller, there is huge choice of nursery slopes and gentle blues to learn on and the ski school offer English tuition and great options for children, from crèche facilities to kiddies ski school where they are taught in groups and have amazing fun. The lift system is very advanced too, keeping queues to a minimum.

Intermediate skiers will love the choice and variety of piste available to them, Zell am Ziller has over 50 runs alone, not to mention the expanse of opportunities open on an all area lift pass, there is no reason to step on the same area of snow ever. This resort has been given 5 out of 5 for intermediate skiers.

Advanced skiers have over 15 runs in Zell, not forgetting others in Mayrhofen and the glacier or the off piste opportunities. It is fabulous and challenging and really pushes you to all new limits.

Snowboarders will love the Ziller Valley, there is 2 board parks nearby and wide, long cruising runs, nil queues on the extensive lift system, some of the worlds top tuition and the off piste possibilities are endless, a snow boarders paradise.

The village of Zell am Ziller is situated at the base of the Ziller Valley with cosy inns, beautiful restaurants and a great selection of bars and places to wind down and catch up on your days skiing. Its traditional and has a great feel to it. There is a handful of shops and even a nightclub.

For the non skiers in your party or for those wanting other snowy adventures, the choice of activities in Zell and neighbouring resorts are amazing. Try bob-sleighing, tobogganing, ice skating, bowling, paragliding, winter walks or enjoy a relaxing few hours in one of the many hotel spas and pools.

The beauty of staying in any of the resorts in the Ziller Valley is the fact that it is so easy to get around, there’s a steam train, numerous ski buses and the most amazing lift system, with some lift open at night too making access to many areas easy and unstressed.
