Lech Guide
Sitting high in the mountains of the Arlberg region the resort is known for its impressive lift infrastructure which links it to the neighbouring resort of Zurs. Skiing is available for all abilities but Lech is famed for its off-piste Arlberg snow, made all the more exhilarating by the offer of heliskiing.
Skiing
Access to the piste is via 4 cable cars and 3 gondolas that link up with 75 chair and drag lifts giving comprehensive coverage of the Lech and Zurs ski area. The resort offers a total of 276km of piste totalling 134 runs:
- 34 Beginner
- 70 intermediate
- 30 Difficult
The longest run is the 5km Madloch. The resort also boosts 19km of picturesque cross country skiing.

Accommodation
As Lech is a relatively small and exclusive resort, the range of accommodation is somewhat limited and all at the higher end of the market.

The magnificent Hotel Elisabeth is only 5 minutes walk from the main lifts and has boasted the very best in service and cuisine for many years. A family run hotel, it offers beautifully appointed rooms and a host of facilities. Hotel Gotthard run by the Walch family is a favourite with British guest, having its own in-house bakery and spa, its cosy atmosphere is a delight after a long days skiing.

Hotels within this quality bracket include, the family run Hotel Omesberg overlooking the town of Lech and offering a wide range of spa beauty treatments, the stylishly decorated Hotel Pfefferkom in the heart of town, just a short walk from the lifts, the recently refurbished Hotel Tannbergerhof serving ‘the world’s best mulled wine,’ and Hotel Antonius located at the very foot of the mountain allowing skiing right to the doorstep.

Chalet Hilde, located just a short walk from the restaurants in the centre of town is furnished in the traditional Austrian style. This room only offers self-catering accommodation and features an indoor pool and wellness facility. A continental breakfast is available for an additional supplement.
HeliSkiing
Heliskiing and Heliboarding in the Arlberg region is a spectacular experience unique to Austria. Taking place on the slopes of Mehlsack and Schneetali the one hour run ends in the beautiful Seitental Zug near Lech. Heliskiing and heliboarding are only possible in good weather and with a trained mountain guide. The fee for the guide is not included in the price of the flight. There are no flights at the weekend or on public holidays. Prices start at 330 euro with a guide costing between 210 and 400 euro.
Nightlife and Other Activities
Outdoor cafes and bars line the main street of Lech giving a friendly and casual apres-ski experience. There are a selection of shops, a post office, bank and cash machines. A host of other winter related sports are available. Especially notable is the 20kms of ‘winter walks’ through the stunning scenery around Lech and Zurs. Guided walks are offered with full moon tours being a truly magical experience.
