Itter Muhtal Ski Holidays

Itter is one of the more smaller chic resorts in the Ski Welt area of the Austrian Alps, primarily are great resort for families and beginners due to the wide gentle runs, excellent ski school and fantastic childcare facilities. Itter is neighbouring another beautiful resort of Muhtal, offering much the same in ski piste and a great little village scene in beautiful surrounding.

An all area lift pass will open you up to over 600 individual pistes of neighbouring resorts, resorts such as Ellmau, Soll, St Johann, Westendorf and Zell am See, making this a great all round resort for those wanting a more challenging ski area.

The ski area in Itter / Muhtal has over 1000 snow cannons which pretty much means that snow is guaranteed for most of the ski season, the pistes are well groomed and the villages are kept pristine making this a popular place to go for all levels of skier wanting a quality resort with quality in all areas such as hotels too. The lift system is top of the range too, with over 21.000 skiers being uplifted every hour in peak season, pretty impressive in anyone’s book.

Beginners have a good choice of nursery slopes and gentle blues, also very popular with young children, and the ski school is English speaking and offers group lessons or private tuition too. Also once you find you feet, you can explore further afield to any of the main Ski welt resorts.

Intermediates will love Itter, with a great selection of blues and reds, not to mention the choice of alternative piste offered on your all area live pass. There is some beautiful mountain restaurants at a high altitude too, a popular place to rest with the more experienced skier.

Advanced skiers are a bit limited in Itter, however don’t let that deter you as the choice of blacks and difficult reds are unlimited in the vast Ski Welt area, and the off piste has got to be some of the best in Austria. There is an excellent selection of chutes, mogul runs and even a couple of downhill runs to experience.

Snowboarders find this area a Mecca with the choice of runs unlimited, not to mention having access to terrain parks, slides, kickers, half pipes, there’s even a couple of verticals around the ski welt area and also the lift system is so advanced, queues are rare making it perfect for boarders.

Accommodation

The village itself is full of Tyrolean charm, a beautiful traditional village with some beautiful hotels and chalets, many of the skiing to your door. There is a nice selection of bars and restaurants offering a cosy ambiance and offering a high standard of service and hospitality.

None ski opportunities are endless, with access to so many neighbouring ski areas, but you can try your hand at sleigh rides, husky trails, snow shoeing and of course many of the hotels offer top of the range spa facilities so there is plenty to entertain all non skiers.
