Fulpmes Guide

Wind protected and very sunny, Fulpmes is becoming more visited each year. Innsbruck is not that far from the village so Fulpmes is also covered by the ski area pass and the Innsbruck Glacier area. The pistes, of which there are 12, are accessed by a total of 9 lifts. They all offer different ski conditions at this beautiful resort. The rating for Fulpmes is excellent for very experienced and beginner skiers and for the intermediates and the snowboarders it is rated as good. With slopes here reaching heights of more than 2500m, it means both skiers and snowboarders are taken into account.

There is one black run of 1km, 5 red runs equalling 7km and 5 blue runs totaling 13km here, plus 14km of downhill pistes and 130 km of cross country trails. There is something for everyone here in Fulpmes. The 9 ski lifts of Fulpmes are able to uplift 11,000 skiers or snowboarders per hour.

There are 14km of pisted ski runs in Fulpmes, more than enough to keep a skier busy. However if you want to explore further, if you do then you can use the ski Lift Pass and either ski or snowboard in the other resorts which include Tulfes and Igls. When the ski season is finished the winter sports are still possible because of the snow making facilities.

For the more advanced skier the Stubai glacier is likely to be the most challenging. This includes the famous 10km off-piste ‘Wilden Grub’n’ run which has a 1,500m vertical drop. It is advised that you take a guide with you. For intermediates the area has a lot of blue runs and red runs with breathtaking views to be enjoyed. If you are looking for a gentler run, Mieders is recommended. Beginners are accommodated for too, they can start on the nursery slopes at Frone Ben, then take the gondola up the Schlicker Alm mountain.

The compact ski area features more than 20km of really well groomed runs for all levels of ability. Schlick 2000 has a fun park which is proving to be a popular choice with snowboarders.There are many different things to see here during the season. At the Stubai glacier there are opportunities for all levels of snowboarders, from beginners to experts. These include a slope that is 10km in length and fields that are covered in deep white powder. Another fun park is located here with a half pipe which was designed with the involvement of snowboarders locally.

Nightlife

Apres-ski in Fulpmes can be lively when there is a crowd in town. Innsbruck is only 15 minutes away by train or bus, so on a weekend you will find sometimes young people travel into Fulpmes to party. There are plenty of fun bars and tasty restaurants to choose from. The Ossi is a popular haunt and the Corso is somewhere you will want to return to. With its own brewery, the Alpenrose proves to somewhere people tend to love. If you want late night and early morning celebrations then try one of the two nightclubs in Fulpmes and dance your socks off.

Other apres-ski attractions include sleigh rides, ice skating, curling and the toboggan run. As Innsbruck is only 15 minutes away it is not too far to travel if you want an evening out away from the resort. There are various accommodation choices available in Fulpmes. If you are on a budget there are hostels which are very good value for money and popular with young students. The guesthouses usually offer bed and breakfast accommodation and are very homely. There are also apartments and rooms to rent which are perfect for those travellers wanting accommodation on a self catering basis.
