Nestled in between the Dashstein and Bischofsmutze mountains, Filzmoos is a resort that has not really changed over the years, offering lovely, friendly Austrian hospitality, and offers more than just skiing, so is well suited to skiers and non skiers alike.
Beginners have a great selection of nursery slopes very close to the village centre, based at the bottom of the Grossberg chairlift, makes getting around this area incredibly easy. There is also 6 blues in the Filsmooz area and of course you can experience the other 280 kilometres in the Amade Ski Area once you find your feet. Families return here for the amazing childcare options and learn to ski options open to children from 3 years and over. The English speaking instructors make sure the children and adults alike have a fun and safe time learning to ski.
Intermediates are in ski heaven in Filzmoos, with a great selection of blues, reds and a handful of easy blacks to improve upon. The main area of Grossberg which links with Mooslehen on the extensive lift system offer some amazingly long runs back to the village centre, More advanced intermediates should definitely head over to the Ski Amade region which can easily be reached by local ski bus, the choice over there is huge.
Advanced skiers are more limited in the Filzmoos area, however on an all area lift pass and ski away days an option, there is no reason not to enjoy this resort and still cram in some amazing skiing, the off piste opportunities are fabulous too.
Snowboarders will love the wide open, uncrowded piste, the lack of queues for the lifts and the choice of 2 snow parks in in the areas of Eben and Flachauwinkel in the Ski Amade region.
Nightlife
Apres ski is varied depending what your tastes are, there is a great selection of mountain cafes, cafés, bars and restaurants to choose from, all family friendly and there’s even night-time sleigh rides taking you into the forest so you can enjoy the romantic huts of Obertof and Unterhof.
