El Tarter Guide
El Tarter and Soldeu are connected by a fabulous lift system, recently updated and added to, and access to the slopes are made simple from El Tarter by a fantastic, modern gondola. The lift system also links El Tarter with pas De La Casa and Grau Roig on one lift pass, making skiing here cheaper and where these areas were once more suited to beginners and families, opening up the resort areas makes it much more appealing to intermediate and advanced skiers too.
El Tarter has always been a hugely popular resort for beginners and families and first time skiers, it has one of Europe’s best ski schools with friendly, English speaking instructors who are all linked to the British Association of Ski instructors. They offer instruction to all levels of skier and age groups. The piste is wide and sunny, with plenty safe areas for the little ones to learn on and the childcare in the resort is fantastic.
Intermediates will enjoy the great selection of blue and red runs covering all the linked resorts on the all area lift pass, and there is many mountain top bars and cafés on these routes, making it an ideal place to ski, relax and ski again.
Advanced skiers have two options, firstly there is a n great selection of black runs, mogul fields to complement the more difficult red runs, some long difficult runs running back to the villages and of course, the off piste opportunities are superb, especially on a guided tour with an instructor, they will take you to areas most people wouldn’t dare to.
El Tarter is fantastic for snowboarders, with a snow-park offering terrain regardless of your ability and level. The ski school also run a great snow board tuition programme and the resorts are well suited with wide runs and uncrowded lift systems. The snow park has a half pipe, jumps, and a fabulous music system making it perfect for all boarders.
In resort villages there is a full list of Apres ski events, with some night skiing on offer at certain times of the season. The village of El Tarter has a modern, vibrant feel with a huge selection of bars and restaurants to choose from and Soldeu centre is a quieter region. There is a good selection of live music bars and a handful of night clubs. This is a cheap and cheerful place to go to being a tax free destination.
There is a good selection of non ski activities too, there’s access to snowmobiles, wellness centres, spa facilities, dog sledding and of course duty free shopping in the capital city of Andorra La Vella.
